Acting Review:
Good news, Bella didn't kill me last week - although, had I seen
her in person it may be a different story. But hopefully, this week I can restore at least some of her faith
in me.
So, The Breakfast Club (1985)! A good movie for the most part. The acting on all accounts was convincing and created clear characterisation that was well executed by the cast. The main five are pretty faultless in the performances; the only downside to the film comes with the likability of the characters themselves - *cough* John (Judd Nelson). I guess John was meant to be charming or whatever, but all I witnessed was a cocky asshole who used his bad experiences to excuse his dick head-ish behaviour - sorry. Brian (Anthony Michael Hall), Andrew (Emilio Estevez) and Claire (Molly Ringwald) were alright; I liked Allison's (Ally Sheedy) character the most.
I can't really say more about the film except I enjoyed it a million times more than The Notebook and thought the actors did a good job of portraying that self-absorbed, teenage angst. Despite the presence of John, The Breakfast Club is a film with a talented cast, that I could watch again.
Signed, Vanii x
